A Winter Dream

Winter Dream
Winter Dream | Austria | 2017

We are five days into the new year and I haven’t seen as much as a ray of the sun. It’s been mostly rainy here in Nuremberg and we have been busy moving the big girl out of the house into her own apartment in downtown Nuremberg. A huge step for her as well as for us, even though we just live 10 miles (16km) apart. Have I mentioned that I’m considering turning her vacated room into a photo studio 😉 ?

Yesterday I have stumbled across a video documentary about and with famous Japanese street photographer Daido Moriyama (here the link to it on youtube). It is a priceless film with 84 minutes duration with English subtitles. I will do a separate post about it and about Daido Moriyama in the next days. But definitely worth watching on the weekend, if you have some time and are interested in the work of this iconic photographer.

The photo of the cabin in the mountains I have taken last week in Austria with my Olympus PEN-F with the 14-150mm F/4-5.6 travel zoom. Image specs are 1/250 sec @ f/9, ISO 200 and 47mm focal length.

Have a great weekend!

Marcus

  1. Beautiful photo Marcus! It looks like such a serene setting. I still struggle with the cold so I’m pretty sure I’d be sitting by the fire with a warm drink! 🙂

    1. Sure I will report on my studio experiments 🙂 ! Photography related resolutions for 2018? Finding more time for photography aside from the job that pays the bills, doing more street portraits, starting some studio portrait work, experimenting with Zen photography, making full use of my new Lensbaby, teaching photography….not sure the list is complete but it’s a start 😉

  2. Sometimes a child leaving can be bittersweet, but with yours “close” you should have more sweet than bitter…(Oh, and the photo is stunning!)

  3. What a beautiful photo Marcus. Did you stay there? Hope your daughter will be happy in her new apartment, not far for you all to see each other frequently though, so that’s nice! Have a good weekend, Marion

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Marion, so much appreciated! We stayed in the house of a friend just down the valley. But the cabin looked very romantic 😉 ! Hope you are having a fine weekend yourself, mine was fabulous so far! Although Monday it’s back to work 🙁

  4. It is very sunny here but bitterly cold. December was very grey and dreary with very few days of sun. I think I’d rather have the sun despite the cold. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to change your daughter’s room over to a studio. They do come back ( at least some of them do). Happy New Year! Carol
