Nuremberg Airport Instawalk (5555)

Just in case you wonder if you missed the last 5553 posts about Friday night’s Instawalk at Nuremberg’s Albrecht Dürer Airport (NUE), don’t worry, there was only episode 1 I posted yesterday. But I decided on the special numbering to celebrate 5555 followers for this blog. This morning, the “Streets of Nuremberg” passed the mark that I wouldn’t even remotely have considered reaching one day. Thanks to everyone regularly reading about my photographic musings, this is so much appreciated.

So this is the second post with some shots I took during the walk with 15 fellow Nuremberg Instagramers trough the airport’s car parks, organized by the admins  @igers_nuernberg  and properly authorized by the Airport press department. While yesterday’s post was mainly black&white photos, you find more color images after the jump….

It was my first ever Instawalk, and I was really curious how it would be. What I really liked was the total relaxed atmosphere. Once underway, everyone was looking for his/her own motives and compositions, there was never “waiting in line” to get the very same shot, something I really appreciated.  Everyone was looking forward to the different views the other photographers would contribute and that would be shared via a dedicated Instagram page to which we got the relevant hashtags.

As mainly a street photographer, wandering through car parks and trying to find creative views to shoot was quite a challenge, but a challenge I found quite interesting submitting myself. As I’ve written quite a few times on this blog, giving oneself a dedicated assignment, also outside the own photographic comfort zone, is a great way to enhance creativity, but doing it in a group and sharing the results afterwards is a different animal, but one I thoroughly enjoyed.

It was especially enriching finally seeing the faces of the people I knew only by their Instagram account names (and this is how we introduced each others, by our account names 😉 ). A big heartfelt “Thank You” to the admins for organizing the walk and for NUE Albrecht Dürer Airport staff to make it possible. I’m already looking forward joining the next walk of the the Nuremberg Instagram community.

The cameras I brought were my OM-D E-M1 with the 12-100mm F/4 and the PEN-F with my WALIMEX Pro 7,5mm 1:3.5 Fish-Eye, plus a tripod. I started using the tripod, but soon was shooting handheld (as normally in the streets), due to the great image stabilization of the E-M1 combined with the (additional) stabilization system in the 12-100mm F/4 lens, that allows my to shoot 1/4 sec and still get pin sharp images.

RAW and monochrome conversion in Adobe Lightroom Classic CC.

Wish you a fabulous Sunday!

  1. Congrats on your follower numbers!! That’s so amazing. 🙂 I love the stairwells with the colored doors. So much character!

  2. Fabulous series! Beautiful shots. The one of the stairways and the colorful doors are to die for! Thanks for sharing this very interesting experience and your awesome shots!

  3. My favourite was the staircase with each floor having a different coloured door – you are so creative Marcus to think of taking a photo like that! Congratulations too on your increase in followers, very well deserved! After enjoying a weekend away in Frankfurt last weekend, it’s back to mundane tasks at home like sweeping up leaves and ironing!

    1. Thanks, Marion, appreciate your kind words so much! You know, I’ve searched my car in the old car park, so those colored doors really help to remember it after returning from one of the countless business trips. Wish you a quick return to traveling 🙂 ! Marcus

  4. I love these colourful doors in the carpark 🤩. I guess they help a lot in finding your car as colours stick much better than numbers. You so beautifully photographed them!
    Congrats for 5555 followers 🎊🎉🙌🏼

    1. Thanks, Daniela, so much appreciated 🙂 ! You know, I’ve searched my car in the old car park. When you arrive at the airport while on the phone, you just have no clue where you’ve left it. Those colors help (and taking a phone photo of the parking number 😉 )
