The Top of the World

Mount Everest from EBC
Mount Everest (8848m)

I wanted to do this post for quite some time now, but decided to save it for the last day of 2023. Because it means a lot to me. As a proud dad! Not that I didn’t embark on some nice trips myself this year: Seville and Dubai with The Significant Other. New York City together with Big Boy. But the families undisputed travel queen of 2023 is Big Girl. Because back in October she went to see the top of the world. No, she didn’t climb Mount Everest. But, fulfilling a dream, she went on an epic Three-High-Passes-Trek to the Everest Base Camp. Continue after the jump to see more of her trip of a lifetime to beautiful Nepal…

Merry Christmas from the Streets of Nuremberg

Nürnberger Christkind Nelli Linkenheimer. Merry Christmas from the Streets of Nuremberg
Merry Christmas | Nuremberg | 2023

Running the corporate rat race until the very last moment, last night’s visit to the Christkindlesmarkt on Nuremberg’s Main Square in the Old Town felt like finally passing the finish line into a hopefully relaxing Christmas break. There were the beautiful sound of The Significant Other’s trombone choir playing Christmas chorals on the stage in front of the Church of our Lady. Then there was the sight of the Nuremberg Christkind Nelli Lunkenheimer passing by (and me having the Leica ready and getting a snapshot of her).

To everyone out there, but particularly to all the many magic people I’ve had the blessings to meet through my blogging on the “Streets of Nuremberg” I wish a peaceful and merry Christmas and much love and laughters together with your family and friends.

Merry Christmas from the Streets of Nuremberg

Believe

Believe | Brooklyn | 2023

To believe in what you do should give you a clear direction to pursue your dreams. Smoking weed, though, might just leave you circling the parking lot wondering where you parked your ambition 😉

It seems this Brooklyn weed shop seems to take it with humor….a street shot captured the other week with my iPhone during a short father/son trip to the Big Apple.

Have a great Tuesday!

Looking over the edge

Two girls in a coffee shop window

Two girls taking a break in a Nuremberg coffee shop, or rather in the window of the coffee shop. Ignorant of the fact that they might be an attractive motive to the passing street photographer. Only that the photographer was by no means attracted by the human patrons of the Cafe. It was the rather hidden subject that did catch his eye. You see it looking over the edge ? This is why I love street photography.

Taken with the the Leica SL2-S and the Leica Vario Elmarit F/2.8 24-70 ASPH. Postprocessing with Adobe Lightroom Classic.

Festive Season

Blowing a Christmas Kiss
1/80 sec | f/2.8 | ISO 6400 | 70mm

We have made it to the festive season . It is supposed to be the “silent season,” a time of quiet reflection and anticipation preceding Christmas. But we all know that Advent is rather the most busiest time of the year. For sure also for The Significant Other and myself. But to get in the mood, at least photographically, I grabbed the Leica and headed into town for some monochrome street photography on Nuremberg’s famous Christkindlesmarket on the historic main square in the Old Town.
