Horizons

Two people by the sea watching the horizons
Horizons | Celle Ligure | 2026

The other weekend, The Significant Other and I spent an afternoon in Celle Ligure, a picturesque little town a few kilometers west of our Southern Home in Genoa. In March, we are still a few weeks removed from start of the swimming season. Now, Celle’s beach is still a quiet stretch of shoreline, where the world seems to pause between sky and sea. I was intrigued by the two figures sit at the edge, somehow dwarfed by the vast horizon, sharing a moment that feels both intimate and infinite. Street Photography can be very calm and minimalistic.

Taking with my iPhone 14 Pro. Slight cropping in Lightroom Classic. If you are looking for tips and inspirations around street photography, check out my free Learning Center

Have a great Thursday

Leader of the Pack | Oregon | 2017

Who says Street Photography can only be done in the streets? Check out these photos from Manzanita Beach at the Oregon coast that I took during my coastal road trip last weekend.

Obviously, beach life in Oregon is quite different from beach life in SoCal or Florida, even in August. The northern Pacific has no more than 13 degrees celsius, so swimming is more a challenge than a refreshment, even on a nice August day.

I had the Olympus OM-D E-M1 with the mZuiko 40-150mm F/2.8 Pro Zoom with me while I sat in the warm sand and observe the beach life around my.

Remember to dial in a bit of positive exposure compensation. The bright light and white sand tends to suggest the meter in your camera there is too much light in a beach environment, leading to underexposed photos.

StoNur on the Road – Chennai Beach Life

Chennai Beach Scenes
1/250 sec @ f/4,5 and ISO 80

The Streets of Nuremberg (StoNur) are on the Road again, well, were, I should rather say, as this series about everyday beach life in Chennai, India, was taken during a business trip back in 2010. The hotel where I was staying was only a few blocks away from this beach on the Gulf of Bengal, so I just used the opportunity of a free hour late in the afternoon to grab my little point and shoot camera I brought along and headed out to experience and photograph Indian street life, or in this case, beach life.  Read the full post for a bit more info and to enjoy all photos… Continue reading “StoNur on the Road – Chennai Beach Life”
