These days it is the job that pays the bills that prohibits me to pick up the camera and head into town. Especially now, that the gruesome weather of the past days has given way to calm winter weather.

But it is also the same job that comes with some benefits, like traveling to places around the globe. And while those business trips for the most part are limited to seeing airport, office and hotel, sometimes arises the opportunity to sneak away for an hour or two to catch some more touristic glimpses of those fascinating places. The world will look to Hamburg these days, where the leaders of the world’s major nations will meet for their G20 summit. Reason enough for the Streets of Nuremberg to pay a visit to one of our nation’s most fascinating cities. A city crossed by a major river. A city with a rich maritime history, with one of Europe’s major harbors. A city full of old historic buildings, of mind-blowing  modern architecture, and plenty cross-over old made new in between. A couple of firsts in todays blogpost…the start of a new series (Nuremberg Explored) as well as the first guest photo featured on Streets of Nuremberg.

I’m the only one seriously into photography in the family, despite my efforts to get my kids more involved. My wife Birgit used to shoot a lot as well, but lately she’s dropped the cams and is snapping away at what she likes with her iPhone 6splus. And when we’re out all together I’m frequently picked on because I take so much time for my picture taking  that the rest of the gang complains they need to wait too long before I’ve captured what I want to capture.
