The sun is missing in the Streets of Nuremberg. On days like this I’m in need of some color. So is my street photography. I’m not really looking for the classical high contrast black & white images, but shoot in color, looking for those scenes where color makes the photograph better.
Look for complementary colors that work well together and are dominant in a scene, or form repetitive patters. Like the red/yellow/bluish tones in the image above, around the main subject. But also visible in the show poster on the right. Or the pink/orange of the ladies fashion accessories, that you can find again in the shop sign on the right.
So on a gray day, where the missing sun provides little opportunity for high contrast monochrome shooting, go for colors.
All photographs taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X and the mZuiko 12-100mm F/4. Postprocessing in Lightroom Classic.
