StoNur on the Road – Color Splash

Font Màgica - Magic Fountain - Barcelona
Font Màgica – Magic Fountain – Barcelona

One of Barcelona’s biggest attractions is the Magic Fountain (Font Màgica) below the Palau Nacional at the start of Vinguda Reina Maria Cristina. Built in 1929 for the International Exhibition, the fountain offers a spectacular display of water acrobatics that is synchronized with music  and lights which generate over 50 kinds of shades and hues. The water beams create a magic dance which unfolds before the eyes of a usually quite big crowd. Blue Hour on the Pegnitz

Blue Hour
Blue Hour  | Nuremberg | 2008

One from the archives – Blue Hour on the Pegnitz River. Visible in the Background is the Hallertorbrücke, the Western exit of the Pegnitz from Nuremberg’s Old Town. The bridge house made out of sand stone was built in 1697 in place of the original wooden bridge constructed 1564.

The photo was taken with 1/3 sec at f/4 and ISO 800. Camera was on a tripod. I forgot to dial the ISO down (what is the sense of having the cam on a tripod and not shooting on lowest native ISO). But somehow I like the noise in the image, so I kept it. It is so much fun to shoot during the blue hour, you should try it!.

Tomorrow is once more a travel day, I’m heading to Detroit for a day and a half of meetings, will be back in Nuremberg Saturday.

Have a nice day!

Marcus

Monday Mountains (4)

Monte Rosa
Monte Rosa | Italy | 2004
This week’s Monday Mountains features majestic Monte Rosa (Mont Rose), the second highest mountain in the Alps and of Europe, with its main summit (Dufour Peak)  rising to 4,634 m (15,203 ft) above sea level. The mountain is on the border between France (Valais Region) and Italy (Piedmont and Aosta Valley Regions).  From the Swiss side Monte Rosa can be reached from Zermatt which also sports the world famous Matterhorn.

I took this photo on a freezing morning (15 degrees Fahrenheit) from the Italian ski resort of Champoluc. The wind was blowing ice clouds off the mountain.

Let me see your Monday Mountains…post a link in the comment section and make this a new WordPress regular category.

The Streets of Nuremberg passed another mile stone yesterday, reaching 1000 followers. A sincere “Thank you” to all of you, that is simply blowing me away. I would have never thought this would happen when I started this blog just about one year ago.

Have a great week!

Instant Inspiration (11) – Change of Perspective

Spiral Harmony
Spiral Harmony | Vatican | 2004

The weekend is finally here, and with it a new episode of my “Instant Inspirations”. If you feel you suffer from “Photographer’s Block”  or simply want to shoot something that you have never tried or at least not recently, then this series is for you. My inspiration for you in episode 11 is to try a change of perspective. In my very first episode of “Instant Inspirations” I talked about “getting down low”. Today’s post is about looking down, looking up and looking outside in. To see my other change of perspective photographs continue reading after the jump….
