Finding Silence by the Sea

A solitary person sitting beside a beached boat on the shore in Noli, Liguria, Italy.
Noli, Liguria | Italy | May 2026

The first thing that caught my attention was the person sitting quietly by the sea. But what made me press the shutter was the way the soft light, the tranquil atmosphere on this pebbled beach and the simple composition came together in that single moment during our afternoon stroll along the Ligurian coast, just west of Genoa.

I have no idea what the lady staring out to sea was thinking about, and that’s perfectly fine. Street photography rarely provides answers. Instead, it invites us to create our own stories about the people and moments we encounter.

    1. Thanks, Allan, much appeciated! Our area has been spared by wild fires, so war all well. It’s crazy what’s happening in other parts of Europe and in US/Canada. Enjoy your Sunday!

  1. I enjoy the composition and the “looking off into the distance” mood. The stories one can imagine from this scene. The lighting is gorgeous!
