One of the most memorable experiences of our recent trip to Jordan was experiencing Petra, the ancient capital of the Nabataean Empire, by night. On three evenings per week, visitors can take the one mile passage through the narrow gorge known as Siq down to the legendary Al-Khazneh (Pharao’s Treasury), with the walkway being illuminated by six thousand candles.

Shoot in P-Mode and be prepared

Resisting Donkeys

Sometimes you have to be quick. Street scenes are there for a second, then gone forever. No time to fiddle with camera settings. My advice for you: Shoot in P-Mode, when your are not deliberately photographing a certain subject and have ample time to adjust composition and settings.

Jordan explored – Petra

Al Khazneh – The Treasury

Petra was in ancient times the capital of the Nabataean Empire. Because of its monumental tomb temples, whose facades were carved directly from the rock, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985. It was always a dream for The Significant Other and myself to visit Petra and see the magic of Al Khazneh with our own eyes. Now we finally had the opportunity to put a big checkmark on our bucket list.

Jordan Sneak Peek

Al-Khazneh - the Treasury - in ancient Petra, Jordan
Treasury | Petra | 2019

It’s been a busy day at the job that pays the bills. So just a quick sneak peek post today about our visit to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra. We visited this magic place not only during the day, but also walked the mile long narrow canyon to legendary Al-Khazneh, the Treasury, when it was candle lit at night. Full post coming up on the weekend.

Wish you a great Tuesday!

Udaipur Street Portraits

Look from behind a pole

During last week’s stay in Udaipur I also took the opportunity to go for a 15 minute quick stroll through the old city center. Leaving the PEN-F in my bag in the office, I just took my iPhone 8plus along for the walk. Hoping to make some street portraits.

A two day business trip to Chicago. A weekend at home in Nuremberg. A week of vacation touring Jordan. One night at home. Then a four day business trip to India. After crazy two weeks spent on three continents, I’m finally back home for good on the Streets of Nuremberg. A bit worn out, I have to admit, but with some magic impressions from Incredible India.

Dead in the Sea? In the Dead Sea!

Sunset swim in the Dead Sea on the Jordan Shore
Sunset Dip | Dead Sea | 2019

This is how The Significant Other and myself did spend our Halloween evening. Taking a splash in the Dead Sea. We’re both in this picture (courtesy to a smartphone picture by our friend Ralf). Life’s been crazy lately, but I’m still alive. Sandwiched between business trips to the USA and India, the wife and I are spending a week touring beautiful Jordan.
