With the Fuji in the Centro Storico

Christmas Decorations in Via San Lorenzo in Genoa's Centro Storico

The Significant Other and I are spending the first days of the year in our “Southern Home” in Genoa. Yesterday afternoon we walked from our place into the historic center to see the exhibition of Genoa born photographer Lisetta Carmi in the Palazzo Ducale (will do a separate post about the exhibition). Her black & white street photography work is really inspiring, and as I was with the Fuji in the Centro Storico, I dialed in the ACROS film simulation for some monochrome shooting of my own. For the resulting images (all jpgs out of the camera) continue after the jump….

1/60 sec | f/4.3 | ISO 3200 | 33mm

1/8 sec | f/5.6 | ISO 3200 | 135mm

1/20 sec | f/4.3 | ISO 3200 | 32mm

1/70 sec | f/4.7 | ISO 3200 | 47mm

1/25 sec | f/5 | ISO 3200 | 55mm

1/10 sec | f/5.6 | ISO 3200 | 88mm

1/10 sec | f/5.6 | ISO 3200 | 116mm

1/80 sec | f/4.5 | ISO 5000 | 41mm

1/90 sec | f/4.2 | ISO 5000 | 28mm

Once more I was impressed with the low light capability of the Fuji X-T2 with the Fujinon XF18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR. Even though a kit lens, the allound travel zoom is quite capable with its optical image stabilization (OIS). The photographs of the people eating on the stairs of Duomo San Lorenzo were taken with 1/10 sec at the far end of the focal range, and are all pin-sharp. And the image quality of the X-Trans sensor is indisputable. For comparison reasons I have thrown in an image captured with the iPhone 14 Pro, the last one in this post with the historic Truogoli (wash tubs) di Santa Brigida. You can clearly see the difference in IQ and tones to the images above.

I hope you liked the little stroll with the Fuji in the Centro Storico, still very much in Christmas mode. The festive season in Italy ends with the Festa della Befana on January 6th.
