Pardon the Pun

Point of Interest
POI | Cannobio | 2021

I momentarily debated whether to post this image I took today in Cannobio on Italy’s Lago Maggiore. But Street Photography may be controversial, as is the life it depicts. And it may be funny, as is the life it depicts. It invites the photographer to roam the streets and watch life as it happens, to find an interesting scene, a story happening on the stage that is our world. Were all the humans are merely players.

Camouflage

Camouflage, lady with flower shirt standing in front of flowers
Camouflage | Nuremberg | 2021

Haven’t I said it in yesterday’s post? October weather has taken a turn for the worse, the weather changing hourly between heavy rain and light rain. Time to go into hiding….pardon the pun. Standing in front of the flower shop in city center Nuremberg, it was just a matter of waiting before an appropriately clad lady walked in front of the flowers on sale. All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women, merely players”, as William Shakespeare has rightly put it.That’s what I call perfect camouflage.

It also works in color. Check it out by clicking below..

Hanging in there

Little boy with a balloon hanging head down over a fountain wall.
1/200 sec | f/4 | ISO 200 | 100 mm

My best shot from an afternoon outing on what was supposed to be the last really warm and sunny Sunday this year. I have no idea what the boy was doing half inside in the fountain, but I thought it looked hilarious.

Taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X and the mZuiko 12-100mm F/4. Image specs 1/200 sec @ f/4 and ISO 200 and 100mm focal length.

Hope you had a great Sunday as well!

Up in the air

Up in the Air | Chicago | 2019

When have you juggled yourself in the air lately? Isn’t this a perfect fitness program to get yourself into shape for for those upcoming beach days?

A fun part about street photography is playing with perspective. Like in this image from Chicago’s Millennium Park. Taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X and the mZuiko 12-100 f/4. Image specs 1/200 sec @ f/4 and ISO 200, 75mm foval length.

Wish you a great start into the week!

Capture the Stories of the Streets

Call Me - Street Photograph of two suit clad men gesturing about calling each other
Call Me | 1/200 sec – f/4 – ISO 250 – 86mm

Capturing the stories of the streets is what street photography is all about. When roaming the streets of a city with my camera, I’m constantly scanning my surroundings for those stories. Trying to capture life as it happens. The best photographs are those who tell a story, but with room for interpretation. Continue reading “Capture the Stories of the Streets”

My kind of Sunday

Sunny Sunday
Sunny Sunday | New York City | 2018

It’s sunny today in Nuremberg. In fact, we’ve had a unusually warm, almost summer-like week. Nature has exploded around us. I’m sitting out on the deck working through my NYC photos, still amazed by the swagger of the Big Apple. Is there any other city where dogs wear sunglasses?

Later today we’ll visit friends for a barbecue (and some drone flying). Life is good! Tomorrow I’ll head back to Portland, Oregon. Just for a week. And believe it or not, the weather forecast for the Pacific Northwest calls for sunny days and temperatures in the 80’s. Crazy world, but I’ll take it 🙂

This photo I took last weekend on the Brooklyn Bridge with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the mZuiko 12-100 F/4 Pro Zoom. Image specs 1/640 sec @ f/7.1 and ISO 200, 80mm focal length.

Have a great Sunday!

Marcus
