When Friday night the wheels of my KLM flight from Manchester via Amsterdam back to Nuremberg kissed the asphalt of the runway of my hometown’s airport, another crazy work week came to an end. And, fingers crossed, this should have been the last air travel of this year. Coincidentally, Friday night this year’s Christmas season kicked off with the grand opening of Nuremberg’s famous Christkindlesmarkt. While I arrived much too late to make it to the opening ceremony last night, this evening I grabbed my camera and the Significant Other and headed to one of the many local Christmas markets for our start into the Season of Lights.
To keep things light and simple, I just brought my Olympus PEN-F with the “Nifty Fifty“, the stud 25mm F/1.2 prime lens, a fast enough combo to shoot some street photography at the dimly lit markets. I kept my ISO fixed at ISO 1600 and generally shot wide open, which still gave me sufficient shutter speeds to freeze the action of the people looking at the crafts in the stalls, having a cup of hot mulled wine or enjoying some of the offered freshly made food.
I hoped you liked the little stroll across one of Franconia’s many small local Christmas markets. For The Significant Other and myself it was a great start into the Season of Lights. Back home we will enjoy a glass of mulled wine and some of the great Christmas cookies that the wife produced together with some of her friends in an eight (!!!) hour baking session Friday night. Time to start chilling now!
