Revisit your work

Up! | Nuremberg | 2019

Sometimes it is important to revisit your work. This image from The Significant Other climbing up the staircase of Nuremberg’s Schauspielhaus I posted already back in early 2019. While putting together our photographic yearbook of 2019, I was looking again at this photograph I took with my iPhone, and it still is one my fav images from last January.

Nuremberg Explored (8) – Martin Behaim

Martin Behaim Monument

It’s been a while since my last episode of “Nuremberg Explored”. But when tonight The Significant Other, myself and good friends went for dinner in a restaurant at Theresienplatz in Nuremberg’s Old Town, I took some pictures of the monument of Martin Behaim, and coming home, I thought I share his story with you.

Season of Lights

Weihnachtsmarkt Sorg

When Friday night the wheels of my KLM flight from Manchester via Amsterdam back to Nuremberg kissed the asphalt of the runway of my hometown’s airport, another crazy work week came to an end. And, fingers crossed, this should have been the last air travel of this year. Coincidentally, Friday night this year’s Christmas season kicked off with the grand opening of Nuremberg’s famous Christkindlesmarkt. While I arrived much too late to make it to the opening ceremony last night, this evening I grabbed my camera and the Significant Other and headed to one of the many local Christmas markets for our start into the Season of Lights.

Nuremberg’s Best Sunset

Sunset behind Nuremberg's Imperial Castle
Imperial Sunset | Nuremberg | 2019

I always wanted to capture this photograph. The best sunset my city can possibly offer. It graces the cover of a coffee table book about Nuremberg by famous local photographer Herbert Liedel, who passed away in 2015. But this image it is hard to get. To find out why continue reading…

Time to relax with a coffee in the sun

Flying Coffee
Flying Coffee | Nuremberg | 2018

Sure there was some “Angst” right before pushing the button to activate the new blog theme (Baskerville 2).  I did some testing and experimenting using the new theme’s live preview in the WordPress customization area. When I was happy I went live, hoping that all my blog contents created during the past three years would still be there. It was. This morning I had a chat with the WordPress support to obtain some custom CSS code for viewing platform specific dynamic sizing of my logo that sits on top of whatever header image I desire to feature. I got the code after ten minutes, and it looks ok to me. Also, with the switch to the new (officially supported) theme, it looks like the broken functions are fixed again. The search works. Match Day

Match Day | Munich | 2019

Before Travel Day (to Portland) comes Match Day (in Munich). A very good friend got us tickets to the Bundesliga soccer match between FC Bayern München and Schalke 04 in Munich’s Allianz Arena. This awesome, sci-fi like stadium is just a 70 minute drive south from our house. To see some more street photography around the match and more impressions from the stunning arena, continue after the jump…. Continue reading “Match Day”

Shoot one photo a day

Processed with VSCO with 1 preset
Up! | Nuremberg | 2019 | iPhone

I get it..even we as passionate photographers don’t get to go shooting everyday. The job, the family, other things to do. Grabbing the camera bag and doing some meaningful photography takes time.

But there is no reason not to do some “on the fly” photography every day. We all carry our cellphones around, and all of those have decent cameras built in. So why not use your phone to do some “visual push-ups” every day?

This photo was taken last night when The Significant Other and myself went downtown to see a play. When I saw the staircase of the Schauspielhaus in Nuremberg, I just had to take a picture. My visual push-up of the day!

Have a great Friday!

Marcus
