Good Friday

Good Friday is a public holiday in Germany. Time to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. Time to unwind a bit, taking The Significant Other and the Leica and heading out for a little hike near Etzelsdorf, visiting the site were the golden headdress of a bronze age sun priest was found that I wrote about in this post about our last trip to a museum.

While today’s images still are on the SD card in the camera, I want to share a photograph taken with the Leica M (Type 240) and the Summicron 50mm F/2 during another recent Sunday afternoon hike around the village of Möning, a few kilometers from our house. We took a peak into St. Willibald church, where I was immediately hooked by the rays of light falling through one of the windows of the old church dating back almost one thousand years.

That moment I was glad I had brought the Leica on this trip, as none of the other cameras I own would have been able to capture the magic of this moment as the vintage full frame rangefinder. The tonal range, the softness of the light is special to this sensor almost ten years old now. A perfect image to share on this Good Friday.

If you feel like picking up your camera on this (hopefully for you as well) long weekend and are still looking for more tips, explanations and inspiration around photography, check out my free Learning Center. And then have fun hunting for those magic rays of light.

Have a wonderful Easter weekend and stay safe!

Easter can come
Easter can come | Nuremberg | 2018

How ’bout a small German lesson – “Ostern kann kommen” – reads this shop’s window and attracts (chocolate starved) onlookers. I personally take a good tasty Bratwurst any day over a chocolate Easter bunny. But that’s just me.

I’ve officially made it already to my long Easter weekend, but it was a rough ride the last days. But the business laptop is closed and won’t be opened until Tuesday. Never mind, the e-mails will also arrive by iPhone 😉

Photo was taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 with the Oly 12-100 F/4 Pro Zoom, image specs 1/320 at f/8 and ISO3200 (still form that infamous series), focal length was 38mm (76mm full frame equivalent).

Have a great Friday!

Easter belongs to kittens
The Lamb is waiting

Easter is upon us. Finally time to relax. We are visiting friends in Zurich. The weather is rather portlandish 😉  So enough time for a second Sunday Haiku 🙂 ! We plan to visit the Swiss Photo Awards Exhibition in the afternoon, I’m really looking forward to it.

The morning show belonged to kitten Bruno. He was not at all into all the hidden chocolate eggs, but the plushie bunny came just right.

Taken with the Olympus PEN-F with the mZuiko 12mm F/2.0 @ 1/60 sec, f/2 and ISO 500.

You all have a great Easter Sunday!

Sicilian Good Friday Procession

Easter Procession

It is Good Friday. For many this day is the start to a long Easter Weekend. Time for relaxation, time to spend with families and friends. For many this is a day to celebrate and live their faith.

To this day I never felt the intensity of a Good Friday more than back in 2002 when we spent Easter in Sicily and watched the Good Friday procession in the Old Town of Trapani.
