It’s been a busy day at the job that pays the bills. So just a quick sneak peek post today about our visit to the ancient Nabataean city of Petra. We visited this magic place not only during the day, but also walked the mile long narrow canyon to legendary Al-Khazneh, the Treasury, when it was candle lit at night. Mission accomplished. That is the feeling you have as parents when you have brought both your children through school. Big Boy had his graduation day yesterday. Granted, it is only one step down the road, but for The Significant Other and myself it still feels like the successful end of an era, 15 years after Big Girl started elementary school.

The “Streets of Nuremberg” are visiting the Estonian Capital Tallinn. A beautiful city full of history and creativity. Where now, during the “white nights”, it never gets fully dark, and the sun is below the horizon from only 10:36 pm until 4:05 am. I took the title image of Tallinn’s famous medieval towers shortly after midnight. Crazy , isn’t it?

After arriving safely in Portland just after lunch, I went directly to the office for a half day shift. The good thing is, the USA already is on daylight savings time, adding an hour of light in the evening. That way I made it out of the office and up to the Pittock Mansion viewpoint just prior to sunset around 7pm for a quick sundowner shooting session with a pink mountain, prior to succumbing to 24 hour travel- and work day.

Before Travel Day (to Portland) comes Match Day (in Munich). A very good friend got us tickets to the Bundesliga soccer match between FC Bayern München and Schalke 04 in Munich’s Allianz Arena. This awesome, sci-fi like stadium is just a 70 minute drive south from our house. Wow that was easy. Setting up an account on the German small ad portal of ebay (similar to Craigslist in the US) and putting up for sale one of my older m4/3 lenses, the mZuiko 12-50mm f/3.5 – 6.3. I haven’t touched it in ages and I decided I need to do some serious spring cleaning of some of my old gear. I still have a closet full of my old Nikon stuff that (apart from Big Girl and Big Boy for their school photo classes) no one has touched in 5 years, since my migration to Olympus mirror less. So this is kind of a winter test run for a spring sale. I’m curious how it will pan out. Stay tuned…

This post is the 3rd and final episode with my photos from the Instawalk at Nuremberg’s Albrecht Dürer Airport (NUE), organized by the admins of the Nuremberg Instagram community @igers_nuernberg (in case you missed it, you can read the first two posts here and here).
