The second episode of the little series about my experiences shooting my first wedding as designated photographer (read part 1 about taking the formal wedding portraits) is about documenting the ceremony in church.
Occasionally I blog about me venturing outside my usual street- and travel photography. Shooting my first wedding as designated photographer was definitely something out of my comfort zone. In a series of posts I will write about my experiences with wedding photography. This first post is about my preparations and shooting the formal wedding portraits.
Every time I have visited New York City in the past eighteen years, I was missing the sleek silhouettes of the Twin Towers that have graced the skyline of the Big Apple for almost three decades, until they fell on that fateful day of infamy that was September 11th 2001.
Yesterday morning at 4am, The Significant Other, Big Boy and myself took to the roads to head down to Italy. Using only my Olympus PEN-F and the 17mm F/1.2 prime lens, I gave myself the assignment to document our 850 kilometers / 530 miles voyage.
Mission accomplished. That is the feeling you have as parents when you have brought both your children through school. Big Boy had his graduation day yesterday. Granted, it is only one step down the road, but for The Significant Other and myself it still feels like the successful end of an era, 15 years after Big Girl started elementary school.
A few weeks ago I asked you to cast your vote for “Ginger”, a creative project that is supporting Nuremberg’s application to become the European Capital of Culture in 2025. From many ideas submitted, the Open Call N2025 initiative advanced 96 projects to the stage of public voting. Also thanks to your help, “Ginger” received the fourth most votes and will be one of ten projects whose realization will be funded with 5.000 EUR.
It’s Easter Sunday, and a beautiful warm and sunny day it is in Nuremberg. Family is coming and The Significant Other, enlisting my services, has the Lamb alla Pugliese in the oven. Life is good.
To cap my three part series about Notre Dame de Paris, I invite you to an Easter walk around the Old Lady, that hopefully one day will rise from the ashes and be restored to all its glory…..
As promised, the second episode of my Tour of Notre Dame Cathedral takes you up the iconic towers on the magnificent west facade, both of which thankfully survived last week’s blaze. Take a look at one of the bells in the South Tower, see in detail what was lost in the fire and enjoy the splendid views of Paris….
Back home from my short business trip to Chicago, in time for a long Easter weekend. Having access again to my full photo library. Still under the impression of the catastrophic fire from last Monday, I revisited the images from my two visits to Notre Dame de Paris in 2009 and 2012. And I decided to share a few of them and take you on a 3 part tour through this magnificent building, that has been so badly damaged. Today I will show you the inside the cathedral, part two will take you up one of the main towers and then I will finish up with a walk around the outside of one of the most iconic buildings of the world. My photographic Easter celebration.
After touching down at Chicago O’Hare airport I switched on my cellphone to check for latest e-mails and news. The first push notification that popped up on the screen was that Notre Dame was ablaze, together with one of those horrific images that the whole world had to endure yesterday.
Off Topic – this is my series when I blog about me venturing out into (for me) pretty much unknown photographic territory. Like yesterday, when I did my first ever TFP (time for pictures) fashion shooting.
This is the second post about my recent NürnbergMesse Instawalk at the Nuremberg Trade Fair organized by the admins of the Nuremberg Instagram community @igers_nuernberg. This episode is the monochrome edition….
