NYC High Contrast Monochrome

Lady Liberty
Lady Liberty | New York City | 2010

Preparing for the trip to the Big Apple a week from Sunday, I was looking at some old photographs from my last visits in 2010 and 2012.

Just to play around, I was looking for some images with high contrasts, that I could convert to monochrome. All of those places (Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Memorial / Top of the Rocks) are on our to-do list for our upcoming trip. The Significant Other even secured tickets to visit Lady Liberty’s Crown. Can’t wait!

All photographs were taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 and the mZuiko 14-150 F4-5.6 Travel Zoom. RAW and monochrome conversion in Lightroom CC Classic.

Have a peaceful Good Friday

      1. I’m too late to say have a good flight, but I wish you many wonderful moments and special new memories. Gee imagine you are missing the Nürnberger Volksfest 😉 hugs

      2. Thanks so much, your wished meant so much! Sorry for replying so late, put the time was just too precious to spend in front of the computer…and now my real life job is killing me…life…I’m not too much of a Volkfest guy…too many people. I much prefer a nice hike on a Sunday and then a visit to a Bierkeller 🙂

      3. Totally fine and I didn’t expect you to answer. I’m glad your time was precious and I’m happy for the memories you were able to make.
The Volksfest comment was more of a joke, and like you I felt that the two (Volksfest or a NY vacation with your better half) couldn’t even come close to compare. Like you I don’t like crowds and much rather prefer peace and quiet. 😉

  1. Great photos Marcus! I’m sure you and your wife must be getting excited about your getaway! Safe travels! 🙂

  2. I really enjoy looking at your photos. The Statue of Liberty looks especially good. The clothing looks almost real and whispy like silk. What a neat way to capture this most photographed monument!! Three cheers to your creative eye!

  3. Each one is stunning!! Have to ask – Twin Towers from 2012? Cant be the WTC. Great shot tho!

    1. No, not the iconic Twin Towers that went down in the 9/11 tragedy. My heart hurts each time I see the NYC skyline without the original World Trade Center, to which I’ve been many times. Those twin towers are somewhere near the Chrysler Building, when I remember correctly, and are much smaller.
