Hamburg Monochrome

Monochrome Elphi Hamburg
Wedding Day | Hamburg | 2026

I haven’t posted in a while, but life has been quite busy lately, especially in the job that pays the bills. But photography (and this blog) is never forgotten. Last weekend, The Significant Other any I headed to Hamburg for a dearly needed 5 day getaway. Obviously I took plenty of images during those 5 days on the snowy banks of the Elbe River. What I’m sharing today are a couple of monochrome photographs, a mix of street and other images (I have no clue what to call the three non-street photos). See the other images after the jump…

Elphi Staircase | Hamburg | 2026

Concert Hall with a View | Hamburg | 2026

Blind Stair Case | Hamburg | 2026

Flowers behind Glass | Hamburg | 2026

Hug | Hamburg | 2026

Illusions | Hamburg | 2026

I just love black & white photography. All images are jpgs straight out of come, just some cropping. Three of those photographs were taken with my Nikon ZF, the other four with my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Can you tell which?

Have a great Thursday

Marcus

  1. Wow Marcus, the photos are wonderful! The staircase is amazing. How do you get the tone and ISO right like this? Grayscale as I call it ads a further dimension to photography. It’s good to see you back, I hope your family has been well. 🙏🏻😎

    1. Thanks, John ,appreciate your kind words, as always. Thanks for asking, the family is doing well 😊. In the Staircase image, the iPhone did all the selections. I used one of the B&W styles (this is what I think its called in the camera menu. It sure does an amazing job. Jpg out of (phone)camera 👍

  2. Fantastic images Marcus 👍🏻 I had to do a double take on the concert hall with a view image because of whatever transparent film or vinyl was applied to the window. The blind staircase image made me laugh because it looks like something an American contractor would do 😂

    1. Thanks, Joe, love your contractor joke. You could tell the same over here. The concert hall as a special coating on the outside. Will do a post about the building, it is truly stunning architecture. Then you can see the exterior as well. The wedding picture was on the plaza halfway up the building, and the staircase in from the inside.
