“Weathered” is the theme of Word Press’ Weekly Photo Challenge. Maybe you’ve read my post about our visit to the diamond ghost town Kolmanskop in Namibia that we visited last summer. There was nothing more “weathered” as these hundred year old buidings that are being slowly consumed by the Namib desert. So an easy choice for the challenge. For my collection of “weathered” detailed photos of the ghost town continue after the jump…
I wish you all an awesome weekend with plenty of sunshine!

Interesting to see more of your desert collection, Marcus. That weathered ceiling was striking in its lines and textures. 🙂
Thank you so much, Olga, appreciate your feedback! Marcus
I love weathered shots. I have such an obsession with weathered dead trees on coasts, not sure if that’s strange… but the shapes are incredible
Thanks so much, Maud, visit and comment much appreciated!
Beautiful yet devastatingly tragic.
Thanks for commenting! Tragic when you think of all the stories of the people who worked and lived under this conditions more than hundred years ago.
Reblogged this on From 1 Blogger 2 Another.
Thanks for the reblog, Douglas, much appreciated! Marcus

Thanks, my friend, your kind words mean so much, as always! Marcus
Of course Marcus. Hugs
Beautiful photos Marcus, it’s amazing how nature takes back what is hers, so very quickly 🙂
Thanks, Lynne, much appreciated! Although you can debate whether 100 years is “quickly” 😉
Well maybe not so quickly, but she is taking it back, as she will anything given the chance 🙂
Fascinating images. Particularly like the one with the staircase and the sandy floor…quite surreal. The desert reclaims what was man-made. How transient human life really is…
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, Nikita, so much appreciated! Marcus
A beautiful collection of photos! I have a soft spot for decrepit, abandoned buildings so I really love these shots. Have a great weekend, Mikki 🙂
Thanks, Mikki, your kind words are always so much appreciated! Glad I touched your “soft spot” ;-). But this place in the desert is truly magic! Have a great weekend, wherever you are 😉 ! Marcus
Your images are absolutely stunning, Marcus. Seen through your eyes, even desolation and decay are beautiful! 🙂

Thanks, Marion, glad you like them! Hope you have a great weekend too! Marcus
Wonderful! Also the dryness and well preservedness of it all.
Thanks, Peter, this desert ghost town is truly a fascinating place! Marcus
Wow to the sand filled floors!! That’s amazing to see! Isn’t it ironic how beautiful destruction can be? I read once that we would be astonished at how fast nature and the earth would return to balance if humans were no longer part of the equation. “Time and tide wait for no man” as they say…
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Michelle! Yes, that town is amazing. How much history is buried in that sand. I remember seeing a series on Nat Geo TV about how our earth would look when we are gone and nature reclaims what we leave behind. Fascinating! Hope you’re having a great weekend! Marcus
Very nice photos, striking in their capture of the theme.
Wonderful captures of an amazing place. Especially liked the doorknob. Great choice for the week
Thanks, Gina, for your kind words! Marcus
