Path to Happiness

Motion blurred photograph of a path leading out of the woods

Things are really improving. With the number of COVID cases steadily decreasing, Germany is slowly opening up. The Significant Other and I are having our first week of travel in nearly a year, with a week long trip to Austria, just South of the Bavarian/Austrian border. It’s so awesome to finally being on the road again. A true change of perspective. Today I’m passing the two week mark since my second COVID vaccination, which basically means I’m cleared to return to a normal life. A good feeling after 15 months of restrictions. If this isn’t a path to happiness…

Image taken with my Leica M (Type 240) and the Elmarit 90mm F/2.8. Image specs 1/8 sec @ f/16 and ISO 200. Despite being in dense woods on a cloudy day, I had to stop down o f/16 and dial in the lowest ISO of 200 to achieve the low shutter speed of 1/8 sec to create this effect using the ICM (intentional camera movement) technique by slightly moving the camera vertically while pressing the shutter.

Wish you a great Thursday and stay safe!

Marcus

  1. Good to hear about decreasing COVID cases in Germany and your vaccination. Still take care, who knows, what has been “engineered” into this virus.

  2. I’m happy for you! A friend in Hannover told me she hopes to be vaccinated in the next month but she’s only on a waiting list and there’s no vaccine now – I hope things improve for everyone soon! Happy travels – I like the look of that blurry, impressionistic road!

  3. We in Melbourne hadn’t had a Covid death since last October and life got back to normal very quickly. Now an unexpected cluster of new cases emerged this week, out of quarantine in Adelaide and spread quickly.. but this time with the India variant. Back in total lockdown again 🙁

It’s so awesome for you to be finally being on the road again. But remember that life can change in a heartbeat. So travel as much as possible… and take great photographs of your fun.

  4. Congrats on your vaccinations, Marcus! I’m glad that you guys are traveling again. It’s been a rough road but humans will prevail.

  5. Congratulations on your vaccinations and your ability to travel again. I’m suppose to get my second shot in August but I’m hoping it will be sooner. Enjoy your trip to Austria. Looking forward to some magnificent photos of the mountains.

  6. Congratulations on your vaccination. I had a planned backpacking trip with a friend from München in the fall that we canceled . Maybe next year. Enjoy your freedom.

  7. Yay! I still have to wait for the vaccination, but in the beginning of July I will also be fully vaccinated. Can‘t wait and I get a feeling in your post how it must be. In Switzerland we were always allowed to travel freely within the country and last autumn we were very lucky to explore the Lüneburger Heide and Spiekeroog just before everything was locked again. I wish you a very happy and fantastic week of traveling! Enjoy and indulge yourself 🥳✨🥳.
