Back on the streets

Back on the streets. Not only are The Significant Other and I on our way to Greece for the first proper vacation in almost two years. While spending an evening in Bologna in Italy on our way to catch the ferry in Ancona, this also was my return to street photography since the whole Covid thing started. And you know what? Not surprisingly I found out how much I had missed roaming the streets with a camera in hand and capture scenes of life as it happened around me…

Yeah, we had a lot of fun in Bologna that evening. Not only did we enjoy a fabulous Pizza (we both claimed it was one of the best Pizzas we had EVER), but also the seemingly normal street life in the Old Town of Bologna. I carried the Olympus OM-D E-M1X with the mZuiko 12-100mm F/4 as my perfect travel cam/lens combo. The scene with the two ladies carrying the pink balloons unfolded pretty late in the evening and a scene too good to pass on. Also a good example that you shouldn’t stop shooting once you have bagged your first shot….there might be more coming as the scene unfolds.

What the other lady does there with her head down beats me. But this is exactly the fun when you tell the stories of the streets with your camera.

Meanwhile The Significant Other and I have crossed the Adriatic Sea and arrived at our Happy Place for the next two and a half weeks. There is more to come, stories captured on the streets of Bologna that evening. And then the sights of beautiful Arcadia in Greece.

Wish you a splendid start into the week!

Marcus

  1. I’m so envious. Even though we’re both vaccinated we’re still hesitant to travel to the UK. That has to be our first trip so that we can meet our new granddaughter in person. She is already 18 months old. Have a wonderful time in Greece. Looking forward to more of your street photos, Marcus.

    1. Thanks, Carol, your kind words mean so much! I hope you get to go to the UK soon to finally see your granddaughter! The UK continues to lift restrictions. The Delta mutation is spreading, but it seems that vaccinated people are not affected. Also, so far, hospitalization rate remains low, despite Delta. Stay safe! Marcus

  2. So good to see you again, Marcus! Those ladies look like twins. Haha! I really want the story on that last photo!

  3. Dear Marcus,
    have a happy holiday.
We know Bologna very well because we went there for the Bologna Book Fair every year and stayed there for a couple of weeks with our Italian publisher. We love Bologna, this lively city with its intellectual scene.

    1. Thanks so much for the wishes, highly appreciated! Even as Italophilias we have never been to Bologna before, but instantly loved it. We already decided to go back for a long weekend in fall.
      Hope all is well!

  4. Just ask your wife regarding the head down 😉 this is the typical movement for making yourself a ponytail😘
