Just a quick post today, with a photograph I took when The Significant Other and I visit the Old Town Fair that the city has organized on Nuremberg’s Central Market, as kind of compensation for the two big city fairs that had to be cancelled due to Covid this year. Does it then make sense to still have fair with a ferris wheel, a rollercoaster, an auto scooter and a carousel when cases are still raising with all the people returning from vacation? I’m not sure, but it sure was fun. Fully masked though….
I brought my new Fuji to capture the scenes of the colorful fair. And I took tons of images. In a particular magic moment, The Significant Other and I rode the Ferris Wheel and where just stopped way on top, when the setting sun appeared behind the clouds and bathed the scene on the Central Market in a red glow. But this is for another post, once I edited the images.
This one was taken with the X-Pro1 and the 23mm F/2 lens. Image specs 1/30 sec @ f/4 and ISO 200. Slow enough shutter speed to capture the movement of the carousel, but fast enough to still freeze the motion blurred silhouettes of the riders (The Significant Other among them).
Have a great Wednesday!
Marcus

It’s nice to see something fun and cheery at a time when there’s so much chaos. Wonderful image, Marcus!! 🙂
Wow such a beautiful shot. I miss going on a Ferris wheel and roller coasters. i hope that the things can go back to normal soon.
We all hope, I guess! Thanks for your kind words, so much appreciated! Marcus
Love the color and motion of this one! Nice photo!
Thanks, glad you like it! Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe! Marcus
Before we had tv in Australia (Nov 1956 in time for the Olympic Games), ferris wheels, rollercoasters and carousels were the main form of family entertainment. My parents took us children on Sunday afternoons in summer to Luna Park and then afternoon tea on the beach.
Your photo reminds me of those wonderful days.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the photograph, so much appreciated! I also remember vividly our trips to a Luna Park when I was living in Greece as a child. Have a splendid weekend and stay safe! Marcus
Marcus, I love this image of the turning carousel, to me it brings up childhood memories and somehow presents happiness and being careless for a moment.
Thanks for your kind words, Cornelia, it seems all members of our generation have similar memories. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe! Marcus
I agree that it seems a little strange to have all those rides during a pandemic, and I hope no one gets sick from going to the fair. So many things were canceled this summer, it s sad, so it’s nice the city wanted to do something special for everyone. Wonderful color and blur on this photo!
Thanks, Lynn, appreciate your kind words. Actually there was not much crowd there and it was all spaced out. Everyone was required wearing masks and keep the distance when queuing and going on a ride. I felt safe all the way. It was good to experience that! Stay safe! Marcus
Glad that you two were able to enjoy the evening at the Fair. I noticed what appears to be a United States flag “characterization” in the lower right of the photo all decked out in lights! The image captures the excitement and motion of the ride very well.
You observed right, the auto scooter ride had American flags as part of the decoration. It was good to visit an event like this, even happening with all the Corona restrictions (distancing and wearing masks when queuing and going on rides). Happy weekend and stay safe! Marcus
