Street ? Airport ! (6)

CDG | Paris | 2013

There is something classic, timeless, about this flight board in Terminal 2F of Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). This is also where the last Concord flights departed. Although I’m currently sitting in CDG as I wait for the final flight home to Nuremberg I pulled this image from an earlier visit to Paris from the archives (when just transiting you don’t get there unless you want to exit the security area). Designed by architect Paul Andreu, Terminal 2 was constructed in the 1980’s and expanded in the early 1990’s.

This is another example of “the best camera is the one you have with you”…I took this photo with the iPhone 4s I had at that time. Just loved the elegance of this extraordinary flight board and its reflection on the shiny floor. I had to capture it and it had to be Black and White.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

  1. Beautiful and I’m a great fan of black and white. It often brings so much more drama to an already great photograph. Well done my friend and excellent work.

    1. Danke schön! Für Streetphotohgraphy ist ein Airport optimal, weil Dich eigentlich niemand wahrnimmt, wenn Du knipst. Und es gibt immer interessante Motive. Wünsche Dir eine gute Woche!

  2. Just starting following your blog and I have to say, I love seeing the world through your eyes/lens. Very inspiring for me as a 50+ chick that’s FINALLY treated herself to a Canon Rebel t3i years ago and finally having the time to learn it and hopefully get good one day 😄 To see how you are able to create a photo rather than take a photo. Glad I found your blog!

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words, Elizabeth, and thanks for following. Hey, and as a 50+ guy I can tell you that there was never a better time to really dive into photography. Personally, doing mostly Street Photography, I think you can really appreciate the life in front of your lens and document it when you yourself went through your share of experiences..glad you are aboard for my journey! Marcus

  3. Haha, love the post, next time I see eyes rolling at my suggestion that business travelling is not exactly a trip to see a country paid by your employer (with office, business partners and customers taking you out to add to a thrill), I will share a link to your entry.

  4. Love this Marcus. Definitely black and white! Often I see signs and things and want to photograph them, then think… who wants to see my photo of a sign?? You’ve given me inspiration here. The black and white transforms the whole scene for me, into art. The sign and the refection and the man ahead slightly blurred like he is rushing… I love it.
