The sun came out today. Just in time to lighten up The Significant Other’s birthday. It seems everyone is out in the Streets of Nuremberg to catch some warming rays and anticipate the coming spring. Only the forecast calls once more for dropping temperatures and snow. Flying out to the Pacific Northwest on Monday I had hoped to escape the return of winter, but it seems the weather in Portland will be even worse in the next ten days. So it will be a lot of puddle shooting and plenty time to spend in the photography section of Powell’s books on West Burnside Street….
Both photos were taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and the mZuiko 12-100mm F/4. I added a lot of grain in postproduction, because somehow I felt like it today 😉
Have a great Friday!
Marcus

Wonderful captures! The first exudes such a radiant sense of joy and I love the vintage vibes of the second one. Thank god the sun is coming back!
Thanks, Mikki, I always treasure your kind words! Marcus
I happened to see you over on another blog and when I read this I just had to comment – what luck to be coming this way at this time! I don’t know about flights to Portland, but in Seattle, many were cancelled yesterday. I hope you make it without too much trouble. At least you’re (I guess) a little more used to the cold than many people in the Pacific northwest are. 🙂
(Those are great street portraits! And I use the same camera, so it was interesting for me to see the camera & lens).
Thanks, Lynn, really appreciate your kind words! It seems that PDX is less exposed to the foul weather that is hitting the Emerald City and the Olympics, although I see light snow an rain for every day of my ten day forecast 😉
Well, I guess it could be worse! I grew up on the east coast – upstate NY, NYC, etc – so I’ve had my share of cold and snow, and I thought we’d left it behind, but nooooo. 🙂
🙂 I spent one year as exchange student in the Pocono Mountains, I know how winter on the east coast looks like 😉
Happy birthday to her.
Nice portraits.
Try to stay dry in Portland.
Happy Birthday to the significant other!
Great captures!
I’m happy the sun visited for the Significant Other’s birthday! And Happy Birthday to her!! Taking advantage of the sun’s rays in the middle of winter is the best!
Never been to Portland! Have a great time Marcus 🙂
Sun is definitely an uplifter.. happy celebrations..
Enjoy your wife’s birthday celebrations and the upcoming weekend. It’s wet and windy in the UK today so at least you have sunshine!
Very nice portraits. Have a safe trip to the pnw.
Great street photos Marcus. Enjoy the sun! I met two of your fellow countrymen yesterday while shopping. They were both from Hamburg. Nice men! 😎
