My photographic journey through 2019 (1)

2019 is slowly but steady coming to a close, and I’m using the downtime of the holidays to go through my Lightroom catalogue from 2019 and reflect on my photographic journey through the past year. I have divided the images into 5 categories: street, travel, people & events, shots from my hometown Nuremberg and, for everything that didn’t fit into any of the above, a category called objects. And that’s the one I’m gonna start with today.

Photography is my creative sandbox. Sometimes I grab the camera and experiment, shooting macros, multi exposures, motion blur. And sometimes anything that catches my eye, like textures, lines, or something that just lies on the ground. It doesn’t matter if it is color or black and white. Sometimes I just experiment, like when I shot my first firework in Berlin earlier this year, or tried to capture the partial lunar eclipse.

Photography is supposed to be fun. And all the above images put a smile on my face when I saw the finished results. Any day I take a photograph that pleases me is a good day. So the “objects” category of my photographic journey through 2019 might not be as attractive as the ones with my street- or travel images, but for me it is just as satisfying because it proves to me that I had fun being creative, a visual artist of some sorts.

Stay tuned for more of my photographic journey through 2019, tomorrow with my favorite images from the town this blog is named for.

  1. Exceptional. You really do put a smile on my face when I see Streets of Nuremberg pop into my inbox, wondering what’s waiting for me to see. All the best to you and your family for 2020.

  2. I’ve enjoyed following your photographic journey this year, Marcus! Can’t wait to see what you capture and create in 2020.

  3. I keep thinking maybe I ought to concentrate more on one subject or technique to really improve…but there keep being fun things to photograph 😂😂
